September Food Update

Yeah, it’s overdue. Yeah, it’s been a while. I’ve just been busy.

Bon Chon Nom Nom Bon Chon – August 29, 2011
9 Saint Marks Place | New York, NY 10003 (map)
It’s been a while since I’ve had fried chicken. This definitely hit the spot and I’m so glad one just opened up near my apartment. In fact, I ordered some today – hot and spicy. I still miss Wing Stop’s lemon pepper and garlic parmesan, Hooter’s breaded hot wings, and Buffalo Wild Wings daily specials.

Mom's Homemade Pho Mom's Homemade Bun Bo Hue Family Homemade Meal OMG this Lobster is Ginormous!!! Mom’s Home Cooking! – September 4-5, 2011
I can’t stress how awesome Vietnamese food is in Houston. New York, you have failed me, but don’t worry, you have many other things going for you that redeem you from this void.

Ippudo's Special for the Day Ippudo – September 6, 2011
65 4th Avenue | New York, NY 10003 (map)
This place has great ramen. Definitely DO NOT go during peak hours. I don’t care how good it is, but I can’t justify waiting over an hour to get food when there’s so many other places nearby. Love food and be smart about it.

Deep Fried Baby Octopus Grilled Shitake Mushrooms Tuna Salad - Not so Great Grilled Beef! Bacon Wrapped Okra Spicy Tuna Don or Something Oh! Taisho – September 6, 2011
5 Saint Marks Place | New York, NY 10003 (map)
We all had a feast and definitely ordered on an empty stomach. Nothing else to say, but NOM!

Eat Me. Drink Me. Alice’s Tea Cup – September 9, 2011
102 West 73rd, New York, NY 10023 (map)
This place is totally whimsical. The food wasn’t the best, but the concept is kind of cool if you like the whole Alice in Wonderland theme. I was waiting for the Mad Hatter to pop out, but that never happened.

Breakfast at Maggie's All Day Breakfast Maggie’s All Day Breakfast – September 17, 2011
400 College Street | Toronto, ON (map)
I think it’s hilarious that I had a burrito in Canada, but it was delicious! That hot sauce in the white mini-dish definitely had a kick. Thanks Shey!

A Weird Chicken Pot Pie Molson Lounge in YYZ – September 18, 2011
Shey didn’t tell me about the airport that was literally a walk away from his place, so I booked a flight to YYZ. On the way home, I grabbed some dinner. I never expected a chicken pot pie to look like this, but it was pretty good. A lady sat next to me, asked me about my dish, and ordered the same thing. I start food trends. It’s what I do. Okay, not really.
