Tom and Rita: Volume 01.
Hurricane Rita continues to build strength in the warm Gulf of Mexico, please be prepared for anything.
After less than 100 miles of hitting land, Hurricane Katrina dropped from Category 5 to Category 3 and died soon after. Tropical Storm Allison wasn’t even a hurricane, but when it hit Houston head on, it resulted in about 50 deaths and $5 billon in damages.
I’m in the NW area of Houston and I’m now considering evacuating to good old Dallas. Last night, I was very skeptical of the media coverage of Rita, but now after a day of research on hurricanes, weather, history of hurricanes, and lots more that has changed my decision from no to a maybe.
